Position: Historic Facility Evening/Weekend Assistant
About: Howard County Recreation and Parks operates several historical rental facilities in Howard County. This position performs intermediate level recreation services work ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the historic facility and park property during evening/weekend events. Events may include weddings, parties, retreats, meetings, programs, and a variety of other social occasions. Historic Facility Weekend Assistants assist in the coordination of rental events with other staff, assist and guide event vendors and caterers, provide good customer service to rental clients, ensure that all historic site rules & regulations are followed, troubleshoot issues with vendors and guests, coordinate and help solve any maintenance issues during the course of events, assist with parking, work closely with park staff, assist event vendors and partners to ensure that event logistics are addressed successfully, work in all types of weather both outside on the grounds and inside historic buildings, respond to emergencies, may interact with Park Rangers or County Police, Fire Dept., makes sure events are both safe and successful for the duration of the event.
Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent required; ability to work 1-2 evenings/weekend nights during busy season (April-November); experience in event coordination or customer service preferred; knowledge of safety and first aid protocols beneficial; strong communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions; must be CPR/AED/First Aid trained or willing to obtain certification post-hiring.
