Position: HIGHWAY ENGINEER (DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTION AND HIGHWAYS) -SEIU 73

About: Under the direction of Highway Engineer III, IV, V, or Senior Project Engineer, the position involves performing a variety of engineering tasks in the planning, design, or construction of transportation projects. The role includes assuming primary responsibility over assigned projects and tasks, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring project goals are met.

Requirements: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Construction or Electrical Engineering supplemented with one year of full-time work experience in civil, construction, or electrical engineering is required. Alternatively, acceptance for the Illinois Engineer Intern Examination with documented evidence from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation at the time of application, supplemented with one year of work experience in the mentioned fields, is required. In addition, graduation with a Master’s Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering is required. A valid driver’s license is also mandatory.
