Position: Events Coordinator
About: The Department of Ethnomusicology and Global Jazz Studies at UCLA is known for its interdisciplinary approach to studying music from various regions of the world, with a focus on jazz as a global cultural force. The department offers courses that delve into the intersection of music with culture, society, politics, and economics, along with performance ensemble opportunities in world and American music traditions. Additionally, students benefit from collaborations with other departments at the School of Music and UCLA’s arts and humanities departments, providing a rich academic and musical experience both on campus and in Los Angeles.
Requirements: 2+ years of experience in professional event production including concerts, workshops, masterclasses, conferences, and recitals; 1+ years of experience in professional proofreading manuscripts and galleys; skill in working autonomously with minimal supervision; knowledge of event production processes and terms; ability to organize and prioritize tasks under conflicting demands and deadlines; strong grasp of English grammar, punctuation, and editing; familiarity with printing, graphic design, and production processes; basic accounting skills; meticulous attention to detail and ability to implement efficient office procedures; excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse groups; flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends; proficiency in software and online systems for office operations; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; Master’s degree preferred; ability to lift approximately 50 pounds.
