Position: ESS/Alaska Railroad – Line Cook, Summer Train
About: The Alaska Railroad is accepting applications for its 2025 Summer Season. The Line Cook position is based in Anchorage and reports to the Onboard Captain and the Alaska Railroad Project Operations Manager. Training for this role begins in April 2025, with the first train runs scheduled for early May 2025. The Line Cook is responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing a variety of food items as well as assisting in other food preparation and final plate presentation tasks.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; ability to work 4-5 days a week, 14-16 hours per shift with overtime expected; AK State Food Workers Card, CPR & First Aid Certifications; ability to work on a moving railcar for a minimum of 14 hours on multiple consecutive days; flexible schedule; physical ability to stand, use hands, balance on a moving train, lift up to 40 pounds, and work in a physically demanding environment
