DISTRICT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR (TRANSPORTATION AND HIGHWAYS) - SEIU 73 at Cook County Offices Under the President

Full-time Chicago, IL Cook County Offices Under the President $49 per hour

Position: DISTRICT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR (TRANSPORTATION AND HIGHWAYS) – SEIU 73

About: Under the general direction of the Maintenance Bureau Chief, assumes overall responsibility for the day-to-day administrative, technical, and professional operations of one of the Transportation and Highways Department’s Regional Maintenance Districts. Supervises, directs and provides logistic and strategic planning with regard to the deployment of all staff engaged in the year round maintenance of County roads and highways; this includes, but is not limited to, maintenance of highways and their appurtenances, such as pavement patching, minor resurfacings, drainage systems, bridges, and landscaping, street sweeping and cleaning within roadway jurisdiction, snow and ice removal, mowing and vegetation control. Manage the resourcing and execution of all manpower, equipment, and daily maintenance assignments. Provides direction to other professional and sub-professional Highway staff engaged in these and related functions. Confers and reports to the Maintenance Bureau Chief, Deputy Maintenance Bureau Chiefs or other designated Department of Transportation and Highways Bureau Chiefs as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Possession of High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate and twelve (12) years of highway engineering work experience in Public Works or Management Operations, which includes but is not limited to the following operations: maintenance of highways and their appurtenances, such as pavement patching, minor resurfacings, drainage systems, bridges, and landscaping within roadway jurisdiction, snow, and ice removal, mowing and vegetation control. Task experience within these operations includes the management of resources and manpower, equipment, and daily maintenance assignments for the day-to-day operations above.; Two (2) years’ supervisory experience in Public Works or Maintenance Operations is required.; An equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required.; Current valid driver’s license is required
