Position: Custodian/Day Porter
About: Under the supervision of the Food Manager, the Custodian is responsible for performing cleaning and minor maintenance tasks to ensure that the building and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner. Ensuring all services are provided consistently with REN’s philosophy and values; performs related duties as required.
Requirements: Essential functions and responsibilities: – Clean by dusting, mopping, washing, vacuuming, polishing, brushing, disinfecting, or scrubbing all surfaces of furniture, furnishings, floors, walls, and any other surfaces. – Restock supplies where necessary. – Clean and maintain wax and polish finishes on floors; refinish floors, as required. – Request and store cleaning supplies and materials and provide routine maintenance on cleaning tools and equipment. – Store cleaning equipment and supplies in a safe and orderly manner. – Clear and clean waste containers and dispose of refuse and recyclables. – Move furniture and equipment as requested by the Facility’s Coordinator. – Report any repairs needed to furniture, fixtures, or facilities. – Provide support to, and work with, other staff. – Ensure all doors in the assigned work area are locked after shift. – Perform other related duties as required. Knowledge, skills, and abilities requirements: – Have a demonstrated strong work ethic; ability to work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision. – Possess effective written and verbal communication skills. – Ability to address all community members in a courteous and respectful manner. – Ability to operate a motor vehicle and load supplies and other miscellaneous inventory. Education/License/Certification/Experience requirements: – A High School Diploma/GED or higher. – 1+ years of Full-Time experience in Facilities and Janitorial. – A current Arizona Driver’s License and a current satisfactory 39-month Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). – Must be 21 years of age. – Tuberculosis test (Ability to pass). Physical and mental requirements and workplace environment conditions: – Some assignments require the ability to operate a motor vehicle. – Ability to lift 25-30 pounds. – The ability to stand, sit, or walk for a period of time. – Ability to communicate effectively by phone, in person at normal volumes. – Ability to adequately read correspondence, computer screens, forms, etc. – Position requires good manual dexterity.
