About: Horizon House, Inc. is a nationally recognized provider of services to adults with support needs due to developmental disabilities, behavioral health issues, and substance abuse. Horizon House is Pennsylvania’s oldest psychiatric rehabilitation agency. Since 1952, they have been dedicated to helping people with mental illness, drug and alcohol addictions, developmental/intellectual disabilities, and homelessness to stabilize their lives and live as independently as possible in the community. With over 100 locations throughout South and North Eastern Pennsylvania and the state of Delaware, Horizon House provides services to a diverse population focusing on individual strength and choice. They are looking for a Cook for one of their residential sites.
Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent and 3 years of experience in the food services industry preparing large quantities of food in a cafeteria, restaurant, or institutional setting; knowledge of nutrition, portion control, and requisitioning; Serve Safe Certification; valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; ability to work with homeless individuals with substance abuse and/or mental health disorders; analytical and organizational skills; available for local travel; possess manual dexterity and fine motor skills; ability to lift, carry, fold, kneel, reach, stack, stoop, climb stairs, and bend; may require crisis intervention in emergency situations; may stand for extended periods of time; lifting and/or carrying up to a maximum of 50 lbs; available to work flexible hours according to client needs and scheduling; may be required to report to work during emergencies, including inclement weather.
