About: At the University of California, Berkeley, Cal Dining is a self-operated dining program focused on culinary excellence, social responsibility, and supporting the living/learning environment of the customers. With over 12,000 meal plan holders, Cal Dining serves more than 5 million meals annually in various dining facilities, including residential ‘all you care to eat’ dining, retail ‘a la carte’ dining, training table, early childhood meal production, and catering services. The operation runs seven days a week, seventeen hours a day, employing a diverse staff of 450 full and part-time employees and around 400 Cal student workers across multiple locations.
Requirements: Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations; Experience in food preparation and general maintenance in a kitchen; Ability to work independently and prepare multiple menu items for a meal; Ability to direct other staff; Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and sanitation; Proven organizational skills; Ability to complete service records accurately; Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
