Position: Chapter Director
About: Special Spaces, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization headquartered in Knoxville, TN, creates dream bedrooms for children with cancer aged 2-19. Special Spaces believes in the healing power of a child’s environment, particularly their bedroom, where they sleep, study, play, and escape. With an estimated 20,000 children diagnosed with cancer annually, the organization, with 10 chapters across 10 states and over 1,800 completed rooms, aims to make a difference. The Omaha Chapter, established in 2018, is transitioning to a compensated Chapter Director role to expand its impact and support more families in need.
Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience; strong commitment to supporting families with children facing cancer; practical experience in fundraising and sponsorship development; strong organization and project management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and stakeholders effectively; reside in or near Omaha, NE, or willing to relocate; ready access to reliable transportation; flexibility to work evenings and weekends; practical understanding of nonprofit governance, fundraising strategies, and financial management; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to lead and inspire a diverse team; passion for the organization’s mission; experience in program and event design, implementation, and evaluation.
