Position: Cafe Server
About: The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC) is a museum, research center, and publisher dedicated to the study and preservation of the history and culture of New Orleans and the Gulf South region. The Collection is currently accepting resumes for the position of Café Server for the Café at the Collection. This position starts at $17.00/hour. Located within the historic Brulatour courtyard at 520 Royal Street, The Café offers both indoor and outdoor seating serving coffee, pastries, salads, wraps, and more. The Café Server is responsible for ensuring all guests have an exceptional experience while at THNOC’s Café. This position requires excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to adapt to the needs of our many diverse guests, employees, and visitors of the French Quarter. This position is responsible for conducting café sales on the POS System. This position is also responsible for the maintenance of the café and ensuring the café is orderly, attractive, and welcoming. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of one year of food service or enrollment in a culinary arts program, including experience in using a POS system. The successful candidate shall possess exceptional customer service and communication skills and an ability to resolve problems while working under minimal supervision. This position regularly moves products up to 25 pounds to 50 pounds. This is a full-time position. The work hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The candidate must be flexible with his/her work schedule for the purpose of supporting THNOC events and meetings. Requirements: High School diploma or GED equivalent; A minimum of one year of food service experience, including opening and closing a café; Exceptional customer service and communication skills; Maintains basic knowledge of POS system, food preparation techniques, and use of all related equipment; Ability to resolve problems and make decisions independently; Ability to learn and retain product and THNOC information; Ability to follow procedures and carry out instructions from Management; Ability to serve alcoholic beverages; Knowledge of purchasing and inventory management; Ability to work in a team-orientated, fast-paced environment; Demonstrated initiative, thoroughness, and accuracy; Punctuality, reliability and flexibility to an evolving work environment; Professional demeanor and appearance
