Position: Assistant Special Event Coordinator
About: This position is responsible for supporting the marketing team at Wheaton Park District as it relates to special events, sponsorship, fundraising, and partnerships. The role works as part of a team to assist with coordination of all aspects of event planning, logistics, promotion, sponsorship procurement and fulfillment, meeting revenue goals, execution, and evaluation. Responsibilities include events such as community festivals, summer concert series, and 5K races.
Requirements: Minimum of an associate degree plus at least two (2) years’ experience in marketing, special events, or hospitality; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and various media software (e.g. social media and e-marketing platforms) and possess an aptitude for learning additional software applications as needed. Must be proficient at operating standard office equipment. Experience with Photoshop or other graphics software is helpful but not required. Must be able to make independent decisions and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with excellent organizational skills. Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Reliable transportation is required. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
