Position: Assistant Professor – Costume Technology and Costume Shop Manager
About: Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) Department of Theatre is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Costume Technology and Costume Shop Manager. This full-time, 9-month position is non-tenure eligible and starts on August 16, 2025. The department offers a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Theatre and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in various disciplines, along with a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Theatre. The Assistant Professor will be responsible for teaching costume technology courses, managing the costume shop, and contributing to the department’s mission of fostering theatrical arts and professional development.
Requirements: MFA in Costume Technology or related field; Teaching experience beyond graduate school; Minimum of four years of professional costume technology experience; Experience in fostering a diverse environment; Strong collaboration, organizational, problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
