Position: Assistant Director of Event and Game Operations
About: The University of Oklahoma is seeking an Assistant Director of Event and Game Operations to assist in all facets of internal and external events within the Athletics Department. The key role will involve event management and sport oversight for assigned sports, as well as coordination of special events and facility rentals within athletic department facilities.
Requirements: Required Education: Bachelor’s degree; 12 months experience in event planning and coordination, outreach, or public relations. Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree for a total of 60 months experience. Skills: Able to multitask with various projects while maintaining high accessibility and approachability; excellent internal and external customer service skills; goal and task-oriented; competent in on-the-spot decision-making and problem-solving; highly organized; ability to communicate professionally; negotiating and working with external entities; direct communication style with the ability to give clear specific directions in high-pressure settings; good written and verbal reporting skills for project evaluation. Certifications: Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date. Advertised Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects (15 to 50 pounds), climb ladders, crouch, crawl, bend, and stand for extended periods. Department Preferences: Master’s degree in sports management or related field; 12 to 24 months Event Management and Operations experience; ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays frequently.
