Position: 2024-2025 Housing Residential Experience, Desk Assistant
About: The Desk Assistant (DA) is a part-time, paraprofessional staff member of the Department of Housing and Residential Experience at Florida International University. The Desk Assistant works closely with all Residential Experience Staff in their particular area of placement. The Desk Assistant is responsible for interacting with residents, families, and staff. The Desk Assistant serves as a receptionist at the front desk and assists with administrative duties while providing customer service.
Requirements: Be a currently enrolled full-time as an FIU student; Possess and maintain a minimum semester and cumulative GPA of 2.5; Applicants must be available to attend bi-weekly staff meetings on Thursdays from 3:30pm to 5:00pm during the Fall and Spring semesters; Applicant must be able to work various shifts including (1) one late night and (1) one early morning shifts (12:00am-3:00am and 3:00am-6:00am) and (1) weekend shift; Must work a minimum of 5 shifts a week (15 hours) to remain active in the role but may be scheduled for 1 additional shift to complete 20 hours a week; Have a good student conduct record – defined as not having been involved in any serious violations or incidents (including marijuana, alcohol, and physical violence), not be a “repeat offender” of policy violations, and not have received housing exclusion status; Must meet all eligibility requirements for employment as stipulated by Florida International University and pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting
