Overview:

ModusLink wants to ensure the high-tech supply chain stays linked. A wholly-owned subsidiary of ModusLink Global Solutions, ModusLink provides supply chain management services primarily for technology-based clients worldwide. Its core capabilities include sourcing, light manufacturing and assembly, fulfillment and distribution, e-commerce, and aftermarket services, such as returns management and asset disposition. Its client roster includes tech giants, such as Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft. ModusLink was formed in 2004 when its parent combined Modus Media with portions of SalesLink. The company has facilities in more than a dozen countries in North America, Europe, and the Asia/Pacific region.

ModusLink’s services are designed to integrate with other supply chain service providers, such as contract manufacturing companies and third-party logistics providers.

It targets clients in such tech markets as communications, computing, consumer electronics, software, and storage. The company derives a substantial portion of its revenue from a small number of clients, HP being its largest. ModusLink is also an authorized replicator for Microsoft, which gives it license to replicate Microsoft software products and documentation for clients who want to bundle licensed software with their hardware products. This designation is annually renewable at Microsoft’s discretion.
