Lummus Technology began in 1907 with the foresight, planning and entrepreneurial spirit of Walter E. Lummus, the company’s namesake. The first office was located in Boston, with a manufacturing facility in Everett, Massachusetts. The first process technology the company worked on was the production of transportation fuels from bio-feeds such as molasses. During the early years, Lummus produced pot stills and condensers, scrubbing columns, caustic soda dissolvers, heat exchangers and distillation columns.

In 2020, Lummus started a new and notable chapter in its 110-plus year history when Rhône Capital and The Chatterjee Group purchased the business and established it as a standalone company. We are the leading licensor of proprietary petrochemical, refining, gasification and gas processing technologies, and a supplier of catalysts, proprietary equipment and related engineering services to customers worldwide.
