Children’s Mercy KC
Overview:
In 1897, at the eve of the 20th Century, Alice Berry Graham, DDS, and Katharine Berry Richardson, MD, founded Children’s Mercy. They set out to care for Kansas City’s neediest children, one child at a time. Their determination, grit and compassion laid the foundation for who we are today – one of the nation’s top pediatric medical centers, with not-for-profit hospitals in Missouri and Kansas, and numerous specialty clinics in both states.
Not only has Children’s Mercy been recognized nationally for providing outstanding pediatric care, we have earned a reputation for being a great place to work, in the community and beyond. Our hospital’s caring culture, engaged leadership, professional development opportunities, community involvement and competitive benefits — including strong wellness programs that support employees’ total health and financial well-being — help differentiate Children’s Mercy from other employers. New ideas for continuing to improve our work environment and promote work-life balance are encouraged, and professional achievements are celebrated. Here, everyone is valued, respected and treated like family. Many employees say Children’s Mercy feels like “home.”
It’s because of this, our employees have rallied, supported and ultimately prevailed at hospital-wide initiatives to receive our fifth Magnet nursing designation, awarded to fewer than seven percent of all hospitals nationally, for excellence in quality care. U.S. News & World Report has also repeatedly ranked CM one of “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals.”
Our leadership also works hard to ensure that each employee, throughout the organization, knows and understands they have a connection to purpose – a connection to the children and families we serve here. And every day, we unite and work hard toward our vision “To create a world of well-being for children.”
