Job Description

Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa is a luxurious boutique hotel located in Southern California, known for its charming hacienda-style architecture, lush gardens, and beautiful artwork that together create a serene and elegant retreat. This AAA Four Diamond property invites guests to experience the warmth and comfort of a boutique hotel infused with the rich history of a former ranch dating back to the late 1800s. Each of Estancia's 210 casually elegant rooms and suites offers a blend of modern amenities and sophisticated charm designed to feel like a true home away from home for guests seeking a peaceful escape. The hotel prides itself on delivering exceptional service and memorable guest experiences, ensuring that every visitor feels valued and cared for throughout their stay.

The Pastry Chef role at Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa is a full-time position that demands a high level of culinary expertise and creativity in preparing a diverse array of pastry items. These include pastries, breads, desserts, ice cream, sorbet, mousse, custards, and cakes meant to delight guests across the hotel's restaurants, banquet events, and private functions. This position goes beyond just baking; it requires a passion for craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a dedication to maintaining the highest quality standards consistently. As a key member of the culinary team, the Pastry Chef is instrumental in creating unforgettable dining experiences through expertly crafted pastries and desserts that complement the hotel's sophisticated atmosphere.

Success in this role is built on the ability to connect with people, solve problems creatively, and manage the complexities of pastry preparation with patience and empathy. The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills as well as a professional and positive attitude. The hotel culture encourages hard work balanced with fun, reflecting a team environment that has been recognized as a Top Workplace in San Diego from 2022 to 2025 and a Top Workplace USA from 2023 to 2025. Estancia La Jolla is part of the Noble House Hotels and Resorts family, which includes a portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts throughout the Americas, committed to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in the workplace.

The position offers competitive compensation starting at $28.00 per hour and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits include health insurance, dental insurance, a matching 401(k) plan after one year, paid time off, on-demand pay options, complimentary parking, meals, and substantial hotel and restaurant discounts for team members and their families. The hotel actively supports a collaborative and inclusive work environment where every team member can thrive and contribute to delivering outstanding guest experiences. Candidates with experience in hotel or resort pastry operations, who bring positive energy and a dedication to excellence, will find a rewarding career opportunity at Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa.
