Job Description

Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh is a distinguished boutique hotel located in the historic James H. Reed building, originally constructed in 1903. As part of the Marcus Hotels & Resorts family, which boasts a 60-year legacy of operational and service excellence, this 248-room hotel blends old-world architecture with bold and whimsical interiors to create a unique hospitality experience. Set in a city undergoing a creative revival, Kimpton Hotel Monaco stands as Pittsburgh's fearless answer to boutique hospitality, emphasizing individuality, personal growth, and making every moment count. The hotel fosters a vibrant and inclusive environment tailored for passionate hospitality professionals, where the core values - Be Yourself, Lead Yourself, Make It Count - are deeply ingrained in the workplace culture. This ensures that guests and associates alike enjoy memorable and extraordinary experiences.

The role of Executive Chef at Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh is an exciting leadership opportunity within this dynamic hospitality setting. The Executive Chef will lead the culinary operations of the hotel's signature dining outlet, The Commoner, as well as oversee banquets, catering events, and any special on-property or off-property events. This position demands a proactive and creative culinary expert who can blend classic techniques with modern food trends, regional tastes, and seasonal influences to design innovative menus and banquet selections. The Executive Chef will be instrumental in driving Food & Beverage satisfaction, ensuring quality and presentation, managing kitchen labor and food costs, and maintaining compliance with all health and safety regulations. As a key member of the team, the Executive Chef will collaborate closely with other departments including marketing, catering, and public relations to create a cohesive and engaging guest experience.

The responsibilities also extend beyond cooking, encompassing hiring, training, supervising, and scheduling staff; fostering a respectful and growth-oriented team culture; monitoring food quality and vendor relationships; and actively participating in service education and continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts or hospitality management with proven experience as an Executive Chef, alongside excellent interpersonal skills, data analysis capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Willingness to work over 50 hours per week and to operate within varying environmental conditions is required.

This full-time role offers a comprehensive benefit package including hotel and restaurant discounts across Marcus Hotels & Resorts and IHG-branded properties, paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance available after 30 days, 401(k) with employer match, company-paid life insurance, employee assistance programs, and ample career advancement opportunities with potential transfers within the company’s portfolio. Joining Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh means becoming part of a team dedicated to redefining hospitality, where your unique personality and culinary creativity are valued and where you are empowered to grow professionally in a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.
