Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years experience as an Executive Chef
  • Ability to obtain ServSafe, CPR, and/or First Aid certification
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Working knowledge of related computer systems
  • Ability to commit to 50+ hours per week
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Physical ability to operate food machinery and handle goods
  • Ability to work in extreme temperature conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods
  • Good hearing and vision

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two- or four-year degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management preferred but not required
  • Minimum of two years experience as an Executive Chef
  • Strong knowledge of product, presentation, quality, preparation, menu development, recipe creation, food costing, and people management
  • Ability to obtain certification in ServSafe, CPR, and/or First Aid
  • Strong mathematical skills to interpret reports and budgets
  • Working knowledge of inventory control, menu creation, and communication computer systems
  • Willingness to collaborate with Marketing and PR on campaigns and events
  • Ability to analyze data, forecast, and make decisions for payroll and production control
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to commit to 50+ hours per week
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Proficiency in English for reading, writing, and speaking
  • Finger and hand dexterity for operating food machinery
  • Ability to grasp, lift, and carry goods continuously
  • Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges
  • Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit for extended periods
  • Hearing and visual ability to detect emergencies and assess product quality

Job Duties

  • Lead the culinary operation of The Commoner, Banquets and Catering events, and other on-property or off-property events
  • Actively participate in conversations about reconcepting The Commoner
  • Interview, hire, train, supervise, schedule, and participate in job functions of chefs, cooks, and other kitchen personnel
  • Listen actively and communicate clearly to promote food products and direct staff activities
  • Foster opportunities for team learning, growth, and development
  • Collaborate with staff to create a respectful workplace culture
  • Lead and participate in ongoing service education including daily line-ups and training programs
  • Review client and associate feedback and implement improvements
  • Drive overall Food & Beverage satisfaction scores and enhance third-party reviews
  • Create and implement menus based on food trends, regional tastes, and seasonal price fluctuations
  • Develop innovative selections for special banquet themes and coordinate with Food and Beverage leadership
  • Collaborate with Marketing Manager on programming and activations
  • Represent the property in community through media and events
  • Monitor outlets during peak periods for production, flow, and presentation
  • Manage kitchen labor and food costs
  • Support other property departments to ensure brand standards compliance
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships for quality products
  • Audit food storeroom and market sheets to maintain quality and health code adherence
  • Enforce safety procedures and cleanliness in kitchen areas
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
  • Prepare food items according to recipe specifications
  • Establish and maintain effective associate relations and professional standards
  • Perform other duties as requested by leadership
