Job Description

Rock Events is a premiere team of event professionals based in Detroit, known for delivering exceptional event production, travel, and hospitality services primarily to corporate and community clients, including the Rocket Family of Companies. Established as part of the Rock Family of Companies, Rock Events has over 15 years of experience managing some of the city’s largest and most high-profile gatherings. They also specialize in venue sales for some of Detroit’s most sought-after event spaces, offering clients a full-service event management experience that includes venue selection, production planning, and execution. Their longstanding reputation in the industry is built on a commitment to creativity, exceptional service, and professional expertise, helping clients create memorable and impactful experiences.

The Event Manager role at Rock Events is a dynamic and multifaceted position designed for innovative and detail-oriented professionals interested in leading and executing a wide range of special events. From conceptualizing and planning to the full execution of events such as meetings, experiential activations, incentive travel, parties, award shows, charity functions, and beyond, the Event Manager plays a critical role in driving the client’s vision to life. This role demands a high level of creativity, strategic thinking, and excellent event design skills to create immersive and memorable experiences that resonate with audiences and elevate brand presence.

As an Event Manager, you will collaborate closely with clients to assess their goals, timelines, and budgets, tailoring each event to exceed expectations. Your responsibilities will include soliciting and negotiating quotes for various event components such as food and beverage, audiovisual services, transportation, entertainment, décor, venues, and more. You will also propose themes, looks, and other essential elements to ensure that the event narrative is cohesive and impactful.

The role emphasizes not only creative vision but also meticulous organizational skills. You will develop planning cadences, timelines, and run-of-show documents to keep internal teams, vendors, clients, and leadership informed and aligned from the early stages of planning through event load-in, showtime, and load-out. Managing event expenses, processing payments, and maintaining accurate financial tracking are also critical to the position, supporting transparent reporting and budget adherence.

Additionally, the Event Manager will source ideal locations and coordinate travel arrangements, particularly for incentive trips and out-of-town events, ensuring seamless logistics. Lead responsibilities further include managing event registrations, supervising volunteer teams, overseeing stage management, and collaborating with the Event Graphic Design team to produce event collateral such as emails, presentations, registration materials, surveys, and printed media.

Rock Events supports a collaborative, innovative, and culturally attuned work environment where your storytelling ability and forward-thinking mindset can flourish. You will have the opportunity to guide and mentor Event Production interns, contributing to the growth and professional development of the team. This role provides an exceptional career opportunity for creatives who are passionate about experiential events and brand activations and who are eager to leverage trend insights and technological advances to craft culturally relevant events that resonate with diverse audiences.

Rock Events prioritizes inclusivity and equal opportunity in employment. The company maintains policies compliant with federal and state laws to ensure no discrimination or bias in hiring. Reasonable accommodations are provided for qualified applicants with disabilities. The company is committed to the health and well-being of its team members, offering comprehensive benefits and perks designed to support employees and their families for a balanced and fulfilling professional and personal life.
