Job Description
Lansing Shuffle is a vibrant and innovative food hall and social club located on Grand River, perfectly situated just steps away from the Convention Center, Jackson Park, and the Capitol in Lansing, Michigan. Spanning 10,000 square feet, this unique establishment features seven distinctive restaurants, two full-service bars, and an exciting shuffleboard area, creating a dynamic social environment for a broad range of visitors. With a strong commitment to community engagement and fostering a positive, enthusiastic team culture, Lansing Shuffle is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of the local social and dining scene. The venue prides itself on its diverse offerings and an environment that thrives on inclusivity, creativity, and excellent customer service, attracting both locals and visitors who are looking for memorable dining and event experiences. This is an exciting place for those who want to be part of something innovative and impactful within the Lansing community.
The role of Event Sales Manager at Lansing Shuffle is a crucial leadership position tailored for someone passionate about event planning, sales, and hospitality. The primary focus of the position is to promote, book, and manage private events that can range from intimate 10-person gatherings to large-scale 900-person corporate functions or weddings. Given the versatile space configuration options, the Event Sales Manager must creatively leverage the features of the venue to accommodate virtually any type of event. This role includes driving the marketing approach for private events, programming different event spaces, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining profitability related to private events and community programming. The Event Sales Manager will also be instrumental in developing relationships with key audiences including the Convention Center staff, Lansing’s business community, lobbyists and legislature personnel close to the Capitol, and the large Michigan State University community nearby. This wide array of targeted groups creates extensive opportunities for sales growth.
This position is heavily commission-based with a total compensation target ranging between $70,000 and $90,000, making it highly rewarding for motivated sales professionals. The role involves managing incoming event inquiries promptly during business hours, coordinating with clients to create customized event packages and successfully booking events. The Event Sales Manager will also lead proactive sales initiatives such as cold-calling, networking, and generating unique promotional ideas to expand the event portfolio. Coordination and seamless execution of events are vital responsibilities, requiring collaboration with the general manager, bar manager, staff, restaurants, and third-party vendors. Strong organizational skills are needed to manage contracts, banquet event orders, invoices, and sales reports efficiently. The role also oversees billing, payment collection, post-event evaluations, cleanup, and mentorship of staff interested in event sales and planning.
Moreover, the Event Sales Manager will contribute to shaping the marketing strategy for private events, forging new community relationships ranging from small local clubs to large university groups, and seeking ticketed programming partnerships such as dance parties or entertainment events. As a leadership team member, the Event Sales Manager will provide insightful reporting on the private events business, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement while fostering a culture that supports continuous growth and innovation. Lansing Shuffle looks for a motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and eagerly contributes to the future direction of the venue, helping to build a distinctive and thriving community hub.
