Job Description

ResCare Community Living, a distinguished part of the Sevita family, has been dedicated since 1974 to providing exceptional quality services that empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live more independently at home and within their communities. This organization specializes in offering personalized, person-centered support that helps individuals build vital life skills, overcome various challenges, and achieve their full potential. The foundation of ResCare Community Living's success lies in its committed and experienced team of staff members, who work closely with individuals to enhance independence and improve their quality of life through tailored assistance and compassionate care.

Sevita, the parent organization of ResCare Community Living, is a leading provider of home and community-based specialized healthcare. With a strong belief that everyone deserves a rich and autonomous life, Sevita delivers quality services and individualized supports that promote growth and self-reliance. Over 50 years, the company has grown impressively, employing around 40,000 team members who serve approximately 50,000 individuals across the United States. Sevita’s mission is centered on continuous innovation and enhancement of care to meet the unique needs of the people they serve.

The current role available at ResCare Community Living is a direct support position, tailored for individuals passionate about making a significant difference in the lives of others. This job is either full-time or part-time and classified as a non-exempt, hourly role. The primary assignment involves providing direct support to individuals within residential programs or periodic programs. Typically, the candidate will support 4 to 6 individuals in a residential setting or up to 10 in other program types, focusing on delivering compassionate, person-centered care that aligns with each individual's service or program plans.

Key responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities such as personal care, housekeeping, recreational activities, transportation, and community integration. The role requires the individual to actively support health maintenance, medication administration, socialization, behavioral development, and skill-building efforts. A successful candidate will document progress accurately, maintain confidential records, facilitate safe and respectful living environments, and contribute to the overall well-being of the individuals served.

The role also carries responsibilities related to health care, including accompanying individuals to medical appointments, administering or supporting medication as assigned, monitoring general health, and ensuring proper use and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment. In addition, the job entails employment responsibilities such as attending orientation and ongoing training, adhering to scheduled working hours, and participating in team efforts to maintain a safe and supportive workplace.

Maintenance duties comprise vehicle transportation, following safety laws and regulations, performing housekeeping chores, making minor repairs, ensuring environmental safety, and participating in safety drills. The candidate must demonstrate reliability, teamwork, and professionalism, contributing positively to the service location and community engagements. This role has no supervisory responsibilities but demands a proactive approach to workplace safety and individual care.

The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, have some experience in human services, and be at least 18 years old. They must hold a valid driver's license in good standing, with necessary vehicle registration and insurance if transportation duties are involved. Additionally, the employee must complete required state-mandated training and certifications within designated timeframes and adhere to organizational policies, including drug testing and background checks.

ResCare Community Living and Sevita uphold equal employment opportunity principles, ensuring no discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, or gender identity), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, citizenship, or any other protected characteristics under the law.
