This full-time, night shift opportunity for a Monitor Technician 2 is based at Baylor University Medical Center. The position includes a $1000 sign-on bonus as an incentive to join the team. The Monitor Technician 2 plays a critical role in the telemetry monitoring unit by continuously overseeing and analyzing electrocardiograph (ECG) tracings of patients of all ages. Their responsibilities include interpreting cardiac rhythms, identifying arrhythmias, and communicating relevant information promptly to the appropriate medical or nursing staff, which is vital for ensuring patient safety and timely interventions.
The Monitor Technician 2 operates complex cardiac monitoring equipment including ECG rhythm screens, computerized dysrhythmia detection systems, and rhythm printers. They carefully observe and document ECG readings according to established clinical guidelines and report life-threatening arrhythmias or other critical cardiac events. This role requires a thorough understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology, particularly the conduction system, to accurately identify waveforms, complexes, intervals, and dysrhythmias.
In addition to patient monitoring, this position requires technical aptitude to maintain monitoring equipment and troubleshoot alarms or lead placement issues, ensuring continuous and accurate telemetry monitoring. The Monitor Technician 2 also assumes leadership responsibilities as a Monitor Tech Lead within the assigned department, guiding and coordinating the monitoring staff to uphold high standards of patient care and operational efficiency.
The position demands excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with members of the healthcare team, patients, and families. It requires the ability to handle multiple priorities, make urgent decisions in emergency situations, and work cooperatively in a dynamic environment that often involves frequent interruptions and changing workloads.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Operate complex cardiac monitoring systems including ECG rhythm screens and computerized dysrhythmia detection systems
- Observe and document ECG monitors following established guidelines
- Report critical cardiac events and arrhythmias to medical or nursing staff
- Maintain and monitor telemetry equipment, report malfunctions
- Set up central monitoring station, troubleshoot alarms and lead placement
