Sushi Chef Duties & Responsibilities

  • Preparing a variety of sushi dishes with precision and creativity
  • Ensuring the freshness and quality of all ingredients used in sushi preparation
  • Sourcing and inspecting seafood to ensure its quality and compliance with safety standards
  • Upholding rigorous standards of kitchen hygiene
  • Managing and organizing the sushi bar, keeping it well-stocked and visually appealing
  • Interacting with customers, answering questions about sushi offerings and accommodating special requests

Sushi Chef Experience Requirements & Skills

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef in a restaurant or culinary setting
  • Extensive knowledge of various sushi types, preparation techniques and Japanese culinary traditions
  • Experience in managing a sushi bar and coordinating with kitchen staff
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to food preparation, particularly in the context of sushi
  • Exceptional sushi crafting skills with an emphasis on presentation
  • Strong understanding of ingredient quality and freshness in sushi preparation
  • Ability to uphold strict food safety and kitchen hygiene standards

Sushi Chef Education & Qualification Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a culinary arts program or sushi chef training
