Job Description

TravelCenters of America (TA) is a well-established network of travel centers serving millions of professional truck drivers and motorists across the United States for over 50 years. As a renowned company in the travel and hospitality industry, TA offers a comprehensive range of essential services such as fuel, food, truck maintenance, and other amenities critical to travelers on the road. Committed to innovation, TA is actively expanding its network, adopting advanced technologies, and pursuing sustainability initiatives focused on alternative energy, positioning itself as a leader in the evolving landscape of travel centers. The corporate headquarters is located in Westlake, Ohio, and the company culture emphasizes inclusivity, opportunity, and collaboration among its team members. Everyone at TA is regarded as a stakeholder in the company’s success, making it an inspiring workplace with abundant career growth prospects and the chance to influence TA’s future.

The Server role at TravelCenters of America is an important frontline position within their expansive restaurant team. Servers contribute significantly to delivering an exceptional customer experience by providing friendly, accurate, and efficient service to guests passing through TA’s travel centers. With a variety of dining options available on-site, the Server ensures guests find the options and service they expect, helping TA uphold its promise to return every traveler to the road better than they arrived. This role involves working in a fast-paced but fun and trusting environment focused on customer satisfaction. Servers greet customers warmly, take orders accurately while promoting daily specials, and process transactions using point-of-sale (POS) systems. A strong emphasis is placed on teamwork, communication, and adherence to safety and quality standards, including food safety protocols and equipment maintenance.

This full-time or part-time role requires flexibility in scheduling, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays, which reflects the dynamic nature of the travel center’s operating hours. Ideal candidates for this position bring positive attitudes, basic familiarity with POS technology, and previous experience in food service, though these are not always mandatory. TA fosters a supportive workplace culture, encouraging team members to grow their skills and advance within the company. The pay range for the Server position starts at the federal minimum wage of $2.13 per hour, with the expectation that tips will supplement earnings, creating competitive total compensation. Employees enjoy numerous benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid holidays and vacation, tuition reimbursement, on-site meal discounts, and various other perks such as discounts on travel, technology, and fuel.

TA is dedicated to diversity and inclusion, ensuring that all employees have equal opportunities regardless of race, gender, age, disability, or other protected characteristics. The company also supports accommodations for individuals with disabilities throughout the recruitment and employment processes. Due to the variety of environments across TA’s travel centers, Server team members can expect to encounter physically demanding tasks such as standing for long periods, occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds, and exposure to outdoor elements, cleaning chemicals, and sometimes loud environments. This position is ideal for those who thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused atmosphere and are eager to contribute to a company with a rich history and progressive future outlook.
