Job Requirements
- be punctual to begin work
- wear proper uniform including black slacks, Black Bear Diner shirt, suspenders, apron, and name badge
- maintain neat and clean appearance
- approach tables within two minutes of guests being seated
- offer beverages based on meal period
- clearly communicate food order modifications
- maintain cheerful and positive attitude
- keep work areas clean and organized
- report equipment failures and shortages
- take breaks on time and return promptly
- work overtime if needed
- confirm accuracy of guest checks
- obtain manager approval for voids, wrong orders, or comps
- maintain current Food Handlers Certification
- lift up to 25 pounds
- stand and walk for prolonged periods
- carry trays with up to nine pounds continuously
- be courteous and smile frequently
Job Qualifications
- prior experience in food service or customer-facing roles preferred
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- attention to detail in order taking and service

- ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- current Food Handlers Certification
- basic proficiency with Point of Sale (P.O.S.) systems and order entry
- physical stamina for extended periods of standing and walking

Job Duties
- greet all guests professionally and in a family-oriented manner before, during, and after meal periods
- approach guests within two minutes of seating and introduce yourself by name
- offer beverages appropriate to the meal period, including coffee, orange juice, iced tea, soft drinks, beer, and wine
- announce daily specials for each meal period
- take accurate food orders and repeat them back to guests to ensure correctness
- input orders into the Aloha system with all modifications
- communicate special requests or modifications to kitchen expeditors or kitchen manager
- check back with guests to offer beverage refills
- inform guests promptly about any delays from the kitchen and maintain their engagement
- maintain a cheerful and positive attitude throughout the shift
- keep all workstations and dining areas clean and organized
- report equipment failures and supply shortages to management immediately
- take breaks on time and return timely to workstations
- work overtime when requested
- double-check all guest checks for accuracy and table matching
- ensure any voids, wrong orders, or comps are approved by management
- be a team player and take ownership of the restaurant experience
- perform food runs as needed
- communicate all station transitions to management
- refill sugar caddies and condiment supplies
- complete all side work before ending the shift
