The role of Banquet Server at HHM Hotels is a vital position within the banquet and catering department, responsible for setting up banquet rooms and serving food and beverages in accordance with established guest service and sustainability standards. This position offers a significant opportunity for growth within the organization, with a clear career path that can lead from Banquet Server to Banquet Captain, Assistant Banquet Manager, and ultimately Banquet Manager.

As a Banquet Server, the successful candidate will be expected to prepare and set up banquet rooms as directed by supervisors, ensuring that the setup aligns with the specifications of each function. The role requires attending roll call meetings before events to learn the particulars of each function, including guest and hotel expectations, ensuring seamless execution. During events, the Banquet Server will serve food and beverages in the order and manner prescribed by the supervisor to maintain consistency throughout the banquet.

Additional responsibilities include replenishing beverages as needed, checking with guests for overall satisfaction, and promptly removing dishes upon completion of each course or meal. The role also involves responding to guest special requests and resolving complaints efficiently to maintain exceptional service standards. Compliance with state, federal, and corporate requirements concerning the serving of alcoholic beverages is mandatory.

The position demands adherence to safe work practices, including the use of protective safety equipment and compliance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. The Banquet Server must be flexible regarding the work schedule, as it varies and entails working on holidays and weekends. Physical demands of the job include standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 35 pounds, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.

Candidates for this role should possess a High School diploma or equivalent, with food service experience considered advantageous. The ability to remember and recite menu items is an important skill for success in this position. Job Duties

  • Set up banquet room as instructed by supervisor
  • Attend roll call meetings before events to learn function particulars including guest and hotel expectations
  • Serve the food and/or beverage in the order and to the expectation of the supervisor to ensure consistency throughout the banquet
  • Replenish beverages as necessary and check with guests for overall satisfaction
  • Promptly remove dishes as guests complete each course and/or meal at the end of the meal or function
  • Respond to guest special requests and resolve guest complaints
  • Abide by all state, federal and corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages
  • Practice safe work habits
