The role available is for a Senior Platform Engineer located onsite at RTX’s Richardson, TX facility. This position is critical to supporting one of RTX’s premier programs focused on ground systems solutions. The Senior Platform Engineer will be part of a cross-disciplinary team comprising platform engineers and system administrators dedicated to advancing DevOps capabilities and integrating state-of-the-art cloud technologies. Responsibilities include leading the design and implementation of platform architectures that align with DevOps best practices and ensuring integration of modern tools that enhance development, security, and operational efficiencies. This role demands strong collaboration within Agile frameworks and active delivery of cloud-enabled solutions. The engineer will also prioritize continuous improvement by evaluating emerging technologies and industry trends to bolster platform security and performance.
Candidates must meet stringent U.S. government security clearance requirements, including holding an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance from day one, highlighting the sensitive and critical nature of the program’s operations. Job Requirements
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance type
- Active and existing security clearance required on day 1
- Typically requires BS/BA degree in a STEM field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or Physics
- Minimum 5 years of related work experience
- Proven experience in installation, configuration, and maintenance of RedHat Linux operating systems
- Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible, and/or Chef
- Effective communication skills to interpret complex technical concepts
- Ability to work onsite at RTX facility in Richardson, TX
Job Qualifications
- Typically requires BS/BA degree in Science, Technology Engineering Math (STEM) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or Physics and a minimum 5 years of related work experience
- Effective communication, with the ability to interpret complex technical concepts to engineers, in order to develop deliverable products
- Proven experience in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of RedHat Linux operating systems
- Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and/or Chef
- Active and current TS/SCI CI Poly security clearance is required day 1
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Job Duties
- Serve as Senior Platform Engineer for the team, creating capability and feature designs, and ensuring alignment with program objectives and delivery commitments
- Work with the Scrum Master to execute Agile development, to deliver high-quality, cloud-enabled capabilities on schedule
- Support delivery and selloff of completed work to customers, ensuring technical acceptance and stakeholder satisfaction
- Support and maintain a technical roadmap that keeps the platform aligned with modern DevOps practices, cloud-native architecture, and relevant COTS solutions
- Evaluate emerging technologies, cloud services, and industry trends to continuously improve platform capabilities, security posture, and team effectiveness
