Job Description

Chick-fil-A, Inc. is a renowned American quick-service restaurant chain specializing in chicken sandwiches and fast, friendly service. Founded in 1946 by S. Truett Cathy, Chick-fil-A began its journey with a small Atlanta diner known as The Dwarf Grill, which later became The Dwarf House. In 1967, Cathy opened the first Chick-fil-A restaurant in Atlanta's Greenbriar Shopping Center, paving the way for the brand's rapid growth and success. Today, Chick-fil-A is recognized as America's number one Quick Service Restaurant, holding the highest same-store sales and standing as the largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain in the United States by annual system-wide sales. The company's commitment to quality, service, and its distinct culture has made it a favorite among customers and a respected leader in the industry.

The Kitchen Director role at Chick-fil-A is a pivotal leadership position focused on managing and driving excellence in Back of House (BOH) operations. This position commands a full-time schedule, requiring a minimum of 45 hours per week with open availability and limited restrictions, including working closing shifts and a capped number of Saturdays off. The hourly pay ranges between $22 and $26, supplemented by bonus pay and a wide range of benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, flexible scheduling, life and disability insurance, 401(k), and employee discounts.

As a Kitchen Director, you serve as the subject matter expert for all BOH operations, food safety, and quality procedures. Your primary responsibility is to lead daily operations in the kitchen, ensuring the execution of Chick-fil-A's Operational Requirements and the Winning Hearts Every Day Strategy. You will lead the Back of House Leadership Team, developing and coaching leaders and team members to uphold the highest standards of food safety, food quality, and cleanliness. Key to this role is the ability to create efficient systems and processes that guarantee consistent compliance with company standards and legal food safety regulations.

You will be expected to manage Food Safety and Risk Management by fostering a culture of food safety that is active throughout the day, every day. This includes overseeing Safe Daily Criticals conducted four times daily, reviewing findings, conducting weekly comprehensive Food Safety Assessments, immediately resolving any safety issues, and maintaining kitchen organization and cleanliness. Your leadership will also extend to food quality and customer experience, where you will monitor and lead the execution of quality assessments, analyze customer feedback metrics, and manage execution of daily performance targets to ensure the store ranks within the top tier of the chain.

Financial stewardship is an essential part of the role as you partner with the Director Team to manage food costs and promote a LEAN mindset to reduce waste. Additionally, you will be responsible for people management, including scheduling, labor productivity, shift coverage, leadership meetings, one-on-one coaching, training, performance management, and upholding the company culture. The Kitchen Director must have the ability to simplify complex operations and consistently deliver superior results aligned with Chick-fil-A's core values and culture.

This position requires high leadership capacity, grit, a passion for food safety and quality, and a commitment to Chick-fil-A's corporate purpose both inside and outside the restaurant environment. It is suited for dynamic individuals who thrive in fast-paced, high-standard operational environments and are committed to excellence in food service leadership.
