Currently, Meriwether Godsey is seeking a full-time Prep Cook to join their team at a coeducational international day school in Northwest Washington, DC. This role offers a competitive wage of $19.50 per hour and follows a weekday schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Prep Cook will be primarily responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of daily meals, as well as contributing to special events and high-end catering activities. As a Prep Cook with Meriwether Godsey, you will engage in a variety of kitchen tasks that support the smooth operation of food preparation. Your duties will include washing, cutting, and organizing ingredients, setting up workstations, and preparing simple dishes such as salads and entrees. You will also ensure that all food safety and sanitation standards are strictly followed, performing temperature checks and maintaining detailed records. Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, coolers, freezers, and storage areas will be a key part of your responsibilities.

  • 2-3 years of prior food preparatory experience preferred
  • ServSafe certification

Job Duties

  • Perform routine kitchen tasks and follow the rep list created to plan duties
  • label and stock all ingredients on shelves for organization and easy access
  • prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal prep
  • set up workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes
  • undertake basic cooking duties, such as reducing sauces and parboiling food
  • prepare simple dishes, such as salads and entrees
  • take and record temperatures, following all required food handling and sanitation standards to ensure food safety
  • assist with the organization and sanitation of coolers, freezers, and storerooms: all items covered, labeled, and dated
  • keep work areas organized, cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment
  • attend production meetings daily, offering input concerning leftover utilization, efficiency, product quality, etc.
  • perform all duties in accordance with food safety and sanitation best practices
  • other duties, as assigned
