Job Description
SHOTO Washington DC is the latest innovative dining concept brought to life by renowned restaurateurs and venture capitalist Arjun Waney, the visionary behind celebrated establishments such as ZUMA, ROKA, COYA, La Petite Maison (LPM), and The Arts Club. Situated in the vibrant and bustling heart of the Nation's Capital, SHOTO offers a contemporary and sophisticated twist on the traditional Japanese izakaya style of informal dining, seamlessly blending authentic culinary techniques with modern influences. This exceptional 140-seat boutique Japanese restaurant is designed to provide an unparalleled dining experience that honors traditional Japanese culture while embracing a modern flair.
Designed by the acclaimed interior designer Noriyoshi Muramatsu of Studio Glitt in Tokyo, the restaurant boasts a meticulously crafted space that includes a sleek bar-lounge area, wine, sake, and whisky cellars, an open kitchen featuring a robata grill and sushi counter seating, private dining rooms, and an intimate, landscaped outdoor terrace. Each element of SHOTO has been thoughtfully curated to create an inviting and dynamic atmosphere that meets the expectations of sophisticated diners and enthusiasts of Japanese cuisine alike.
The menu at SHOTO showcases the unique flavors of contemporary Japanese-influenced cuisine, focusing on shared plates that encourage communal dining and exploration of flavors. Guests can enjoy an exceptional variety of snacks, sushi, tempura, and skewers of meats, fish, poultry, and seafood prepared on the robata grill. The high-energy bar and lounge area highlights an impressive selection of handcrafted specialty cocktails, complemented by an extensive range of Japanese Sake, Shochu, and rare, hard-to-find Whiskies. SHOTO Washington DC represents not only a culinary destination but also a cultural experience, deeply rooted in tradition while boldly innovative.
SHOTO is located at Midtown Center, 1100 15th Street NW, Washington DC 20005, with the entrance on L Street NW between 15th and 16th Streets NW. The establishment is committed to offering its staff competitive compensation packages, including inclusion in the tip pool with competitive earnings based on a combination of base salary and tips. Full-time employees benefit from partial employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, employer-paid life insurance, a commuter benefit program, freshly prepared staff meals, employee dining discounts, comprehensive training, professional development programs, and career advancement opportunities. Flexible scheduling is available; however, availability for lunch and dinner shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is required. SHOTO is dedicated to fostering a supportive work environment that helps employees thrive both personally and professionally, while maintaining equal opportunity employment policies and ensuring all applicants are authorized to work in the United States.
