In this role, the Food Service General Worker is responsible for ensuring meals are prepared and served efficiently, nutritiously, and in compliance with approved meal patterns. The worker will follow daily production schedules, participate in ongoing food service training programs, and promote exceptional customer service within the school community. Responsibilities also include operating point-of-sale systems per federal guidelines, managing food service equipment safely, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the kitchen environment. Meeting production deadlines while ensuring the quality and safety of food products is a fundamental aspect of this job.
The position also requires driving duties, including operating refrigerated and freezer trucks to deliver food between sites and maintaining vehicle cleanliness. The Food Service General Worker collaborates frequently with fellow Food and Nutrition Services staff, students, school administrators, and district officials to ensure meal service supports student achievements. Job Duties
- Follow daily work schedules for food production, service, and cleaning
- participate in state-approved training and educational initiatives related to Food and Nutrition Services
- demonstrate and promote exceptional customer service with professionalism
- operate point-of-sale systems according to federal guidelines when assigned
- adhere to food safety rules, departmental procedures, and HACCP standards
- perform kitchen duties including pre-preparation, food production, service, clean-up, and order check-in
- assist with ordering, storage, and inventory management of food supplies
- follow recipes and record preparation details and temperatures
- operate food service equipment safely
- maintain cleanliness by disposing of waste properly
- ensure sanitation and personal hygiene standards are met
- clean food service equipment and facilities without climbing
- drive vans for food delivery and maintain vehicles
- drive refrigerated/freezer trucks between sites
