US Foods offers local delivery routes that allow drivers to return home every night, ensuring a balance between professional commitments and personal life. Their work structure typically follows a Monday through Saturday schedule starting early in the morning and concluding when the day's routes are completed. The company emphasizes a work environment where employees are valued, their efforts recognized, and their well-being prioritized through competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits. The starting pay for delivery drivers is $25.00 per hour during the training phase, with additional incentive pay offered after training is completed. The Delivery Truck Driver position at US Foods is crucial for ensuring timely and safe delivery of products to customers across varied locations. Drivers are responsible for safely operating delivery trucks, strictly adhering to schedules to meet customer expectations. They handle the unloading of products using equipment like two-wheelers and pallet jacks or manually, ensuring items are placed accurately in designated storage areas. Accuracy in verifying deliveries with customers and securing appropriate signatures is essential, as is managing collections or payments when required. Drivers play an important role in representing US Foods by professionally engaging with customers to enhance their overall service experience. Furthermore, the role includes responsibilities of conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of delivery equipment to maintain safety and compliance standards. Physical demands of this role require the ability to repetitively lift or carry products weighing 20 to over 80 pounds during each shift and the capacity to work in varied weather conditions with frequent stops. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid CDL Class A license with necessary endorsements and Department of Transportation qualifications. Prior commercial driving experience, ideally in food or beverage delivery, is preferred, and being comfortable with manual transmissions may be required in some locations. Strong communication skills in English are necessary for interacting with customers, understanding traffic rules, and completing necessary documentation. US Foods supports driver success by fostering a culture centered on integrity, reliability, and trust, ensuring that drivers are respected members of the team with opportunities for growth and recognition within the company. Registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse is mandatory for all drivers, ensuring compliance with federal safety regulations and drug and alcohol program requirements. Overall, this role offers a blend of responsibility, community connection, and career development within a top-tier foodservice distributor committed to its employees’ success and welfare.
