The On-Demand Team Member role at Target offers a flexible employment opportunity ideal for individuals seeking to tailor their work schedule around personal commitments. Unlike traditional fixed-schedule positions, On-Demand Team Members select shifts through the myTime mobile scheduling app, allowing them to work as much or as little as preferred, depending on shift availability and store needs. This autonomy caters especially to those pursuing part-time or supplementary income while maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

In this role, On-Demand Team Members are integral in upholding excellent customer service standards, supporting store operations, and enhancing the guest experience. Responsibilities range from direct guest interaction and assisting with merchandise to supporting services such as gift registry, order pickup, and drive-up options. Team members are expected to demonstrate a strong service culture by greeting guests warmly, responding to inquiries, and ensuring a welcoming and efficient shopping environment.

Attendance reliability and responsiveness to shift availability are critical aspects of the position. Team Members must engage actively by picking up and working at least one shift every four weeks to maintain employment. New hires are required to attend a Target Welcome orientation and complete structured training to ensure readiness for their roles. Overall, this role provides an engaging and supportive environment that not only emphasizes guest satisfaction but also develops valuable skills applicable across retail and customer service career paths.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Reliable and prompt attendance
  • Capable of lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds
  • Must pick up and work shifts at least once every four weeks
  • Respond to contact attempts from leadership regarding shift availability
  • Ability to remain mobile and work in varying temperatures
  • Effective communication skills including use of multiple frequency devices and scanners
  • Compliance with safety and ethical standards
  • Completion of Target welcome orientation and training

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous retail or customer service experience is advantageous
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
  • Proficient with mobile scheduling apps and point-of-sale systems
  • Detail-oriented with excellent multitasking abilities
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard
  • Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks
  • Engage with guests to solve specific needs and enhance their shopping experience
  • Be knowledgeable about store tools, products, and services to assist guests
  • Efficiently scan and bag guest items in compliance with safety standards
  • Promote Target Loyalty programs and assist with guest sign-up
  • Support order pickup, drive-up, and registry services while maintaining compliance with policies and safety
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Work collaboratively with team members and leaders to resolve guest concerns and ensure a positive shopping experience
  • Comply with all safety policies and report any hazards
  • Operate cash registers accurately and support cash office processes as needed
