Job Description
AKIRA is a dynamic and rapidly growing women’s clothing company that first opened its doors in Chicago in 2002. Initially starting as a single boutique, AKIRA has since expanded its footprint to over 40 stores across the United States and boasts a thriving eCommerce platform through shopAKIRA.com. The company has positioned itself as a nationally recognized fashion brand known for its commitment to exceptional customer service, innovative retail experiences, and high-quality apparel. AKIRA’s culture is uniquely defined by its dedication to Other-Worldly Customer Service and obsessive attention to the consumer’s needs and desires, setting it apart from standard high-fashion competitors. At the heart of AKIRA’s success is a core philosophy that encourages every employee to Act and Think Like an Owner, fostering an environment of accountability, pride, and engagement across all departments.
As a Head Cashier at AKIRA, you will play a crucial leadership role in enhancing the overall customer shopping experience. This full-time position extends beyond traditional cashier responsibilities, encompassing supervisory duties, operational support, and direct customer interaction. You will lead and mentor the cashier and tasker team, ensuring that every transaction is efficient, accurate, and reflective of AKIRA’s brand values. Your role will also include managing fitting rooms and maintaining store organization, which contributes significantly to customer satisfaction and store presentation. Attention to detail, excellent cash-handling skills, and a proactive service mindset are key attributes that will enable you to excel in this position.
In this role, you will act as the linchpin between customers, sales associates, and store leadership. You will ensure the smooth running of the store’s cashwrap area by maintaining cleanliness, stocking supplies, and overseeing the accessory section. Additionally, you will participate in critical operational tasks such as markdowns, inventory replenishment, and training activities for the cashier tasker team. The position demands a combination of customer service excellence, team leadership, and operational efficiency, especially in a fast-paced retail environment.
AKIRA offers a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, including medical, dental, vision, pet insurance, life insurance, long-term disability coverage, flexible spending accounts, transit benefits, a 401(k) plan, and a generous employee discount. The company prides itself on providing internal growth opportunities and meaningful career advancement. Compensation for the Head Cashier position is competitive and based on experience and qualifications, with additional compensation elements discussed during the hiring process. AKIRA is committed to fair and transparent hiring practices and integrates advanced AI-assisted tools in its recruitment processes while ensuring compliance with all legal requirements and non-discrimination policies.
