Job Description
Denny's is a well-established American restaurant chain known for its diner-style menu and round-the-clock service. Founded in 1953, Denny's has grown to become a beloved destination for families, travelers, and individuals seeking classic comfort food in a welcoming environment. With a commitment to quality food, attentive service, and a casual dining atmosphere, Denny's operates hundreds of locations across the United States and Canada. The brand embraces a culture of hospitality, inclusiveness, and customer satisfaction, making it a popular choice for meals any time of day or night. Denny's restaurants offer a diverse menu featuring breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks with an emphasis on value and variety, catering to guests with different tastes and dietary preferences.
The position of Host/Hostess at Denny's plays a vital role in ensuring extraordinary guest experiences from the moment visitors arrive. The Host/Hostess is the first point of contact, tasked with creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere that aligns with Denny's brand standards. This role requires not only friendliness and professionalism but also strong organizational skills to manage the flow of guests efficiently. The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting guests promptly and courteously, managing wait lists accurately, and escorting guests to their tables with attention and care. Effective communication with guests as well as with servers and management is essential for maintaining smooth front-of-house operations. Beyond greeting and seating guests, this role supports servers during busy periods, monitors dining room activity, and helps maintain cleanliness and organization in entryways, lobbies, and waiting areas.
This position demands a dynamic individual capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment, standing and walking for extended periods, and performing light physical activities like carrying menus, wiping surfaces, and assisting with cleaning tasks. Flexibility is required as working hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays depending on business needs. Although previous hospitality or customer service experience is preferred, it is not mandatory, making this an excellent opportunity for those starting or advancing in the hospitality field. Strong interpersonal communication skills, a positive attitude, team collaboration, and reliability are key attributes sought in candidates applying for this role.
Denny's offers a competitive pay range of $7.25 to $27.25, reflecting company-wide standards and factors such as geographic location, experience, education, hours worked, and potential overtime. Reporting directly to restaurant management, Hosts/Hostesses contribute to the overall guest experience and operational success by managing seating efficiently, ensuring dining room cleanliness, and supporting team members. This role is integral to maintaining the welcoming and efficient environment that guests expect from Denny's, making it a rewarding position for individuals who enjoy working in customer-facing roles in a hospitality-driven setting. By joining Denny's as a Host/Hostess, you become part of a supportive team that values professional development, guest satisfaction, and community engagement.
