Job Description
The hiring establishment is a well-known drive-in style restaurant that prides itself on exceptional customer service and quality food delivery. This type of establishment typically operates with a nostalgic concept where carhops deliver orders directly to customers in their vehicles, providing a unique dining experience that combines convenience with personal touch. The restaurant operates under a Manager on Duty (MOD) to oversee daily operations ensuring all standards and customer service expectations are met effectively. This company is committed to providing a lively, fast-paced working environment suitable for individuals who thrive in dynamic roles involving direct guest interaction. The employment type is nonexempt, indicating that the position qualifies for overtime pay and typically involves shift work during irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. While the salary details are not explicitly provided, this role generally offers hourly wages consistent with the foodservice industry standards.
The role of Carhop involves serving food and beverages directly to guests in their vehicles and sometimes on the patio area. A key responsibility is ensuring that every product meets strict operational, quality, and appearance standards before delivery, maintaining high levels of guest satisfaction. The Carhop is expected to carry and balance trays that may weigh up to 25 pounds, requiring good physical balance and stamina. The role demands a friendly, quick, and polite service approach to build rapport with guests. Dealing promptly and effectively with guest requests or complaints by escalating issues to the Manager on Duty is essential for maintaining service quality. The position also involves assisting guests during payment transactions, making accurate change efficiently, and clearing trays and trash from various service areas. Additional tasks include maintaining ongoing cleaning and sanitation duties to uphold health and operational standards.
Carhops may also be required to perform additional duties such as moving and stocking food products weighing up to 50 pounds and participating in specialized roles like Skating Carhop, which involves performing duties on roller skates after completing requisite training. This unique aspect adds an exciting physical element to the role and requires additional coordination and balance skills. The work environment is physically demanding, involving continuous standing, bending, reaching, moving, lifting, and skating for those in the Skating Carhop position. Carhops are exposed to varying temperatures including heat from cooking equipment and cold from freezer storage, as well as outdoor weather conditions. They must be comfortable with these physical demands and maintain consistent attendance to support seamless restaurant operations. Overall, this position is perfect for energetic individuals who enjoy active roles with customer interaction in a lively restaurant setting.
