The role of a bartender at The Woodlands Resort is vital to delivering a hospitable and enjoyable environment for guests. The bartender is responsible for ensuring guests receive excellent service by preparing, garnishing, and serving alcoholic beverages in accordance with standard recipes and portion controls. This role involves maintaining a well-stocked and organized bar, including fresh garnishes and supplies, all while adhering to state, federal, and corporate regulations regarding alcohol service. Bartenders greet guests warmly, promote drink selections, and accurately process orders through the point-of-sale system. Handling cash transactions with precision and securing funds at the end of shifts are also key responsibilities.
This position requires effective communication skills to interact with guests and team members, alongside the ability to manage physical tasks such as mixing drinks, cutting garnishes, and operating bar equipment. While prior hotel experience is preferred, the company encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds and values military experience highly. The hourly wage for this position is set at $5.50, and it is not eligible for tips or service charges, nor for discretionary performance bonuses.

Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- prior bartending or hospitality experience preferred
- knowledge of alcoholic beverage laws and safe service practices
- ability to stand for long periods
- basic math skills
- good manual dexterity and coordination
- excellent communication skills
- ability to handle cash and operate point of sale system
- ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- hotel experience preferred
- must communicate well with guests
- must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages
- basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges and understand portion sizes
- sufficient manual dexterity to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks and reach overhead to retrieve stock with or without reasonable accommodation
- ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items with or without reasonable accommodation
- ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check with or without reasonable accommodation
- ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods with or without reasonable accommodation
- ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers and patrons
- effective verbal and written communication skills
- ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences
Job Duties
- maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis
- requisitions and stocks beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce based on daily function projections
- maintains stock, cuts and stores fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to ensure product quality
- greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner
- promotes and documents orders for drinks
- mixes, garnishes, and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control
- abides by all state, federal and corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages
- inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest
- receives cash from guests, makes change, verifies validity of charges and ensures proper execution of vouchers
- locks and stores all beverage, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank
- complies with attendance rules and is available to work on a regular basis
- performs any other job-related duties as assigned
