The role of Steward at Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach is a pivotal position within the Food & Beverage team, ensuring the seamless cleanliness and sanitation of all dining-related items and kitchen areas. The Stewarding team works diligently behind the scenes to guarantee that plates, silverware, and kitchen tools are spotless and ready for use, supporting the overall guest experience with immaculate standards. This role requires individuals with a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively. It involves operating industrial-sized dishwashing machines, maintaining safety and sanitation protocols, and physically handling heavy loads of up to 50 pounds. Stewards must communicate clearly and work closely with both the stewarding team and kitchen staff to maintain high standards across all food and beverage outlets. This is a physically demanding role that requires repetitive motion and attention to safe handling of cleaning chemicals and solutions.
This position also demands flexibility, as stewards must be prepared to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. The role is essential in maintaining the overall cleanliness and safety of the kitchen environment and contributing to managing food costs through proper handling and storage of perishables. The responsibilities extend beyond dishwashing to include setup tasks for salad bars, hotlines, and banquet functions, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and communication across departments. Job Requirements
- High school education or equivalent experience
- At least 6 months experience within the same or similar position with Four Seasons or other organization
- Reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable operating industrial-sized dishwashing machines
- Flexible schedule to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays
- US work authorization
Job Qualifications
- Reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language
- High school education or equivalent experience
- At least 6 months experience within the same or similar position with Four Seasons or other organization
- Hotel or restaurant experience preferred
Job Duties
- Clean and sanitize china, glass, and silver using the dishwashing machine
- load and unload dishware and flatware from dishwashing machine and store properly
- Clean and sanitize all pots, pans, and kitchen utensils using the correct cleaning and rinsing solutions
- safely utilize and store all cleaning compounds, chemicals, and materials including soaking solution utilizing the correct protective clothing
- Clean, dust, seep, mop, polish, scrub, wash, strip, and buff in all kitchen production areas, hallways, including purchasing hallway and loading dock
- Maintain the cleanliness of cafeteria including but not limited to sanitizing tables, chairs, walls, floors, hotline and salad bar
- restock condiments and paper goods as necessary
- restock and breakdown plates, flatware, glasses, all food and beverage items as necessary
- Set up salad bar items
- set-up hotline with food retrieved from kitchen
- Date all food containers and rotate as per policies, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures
- check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up
- Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages
- return all food items not used to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables
- assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems
- control food waste, loss and usage per policies
- Safely utilize and store all cleaning compounds, chemicals, and materials including soaking solution utilizing the correct protective clothing
- Review daily requisitions and complete, as appropriate
- set up, maintain, organize and breakdown of all workstations in all work areas
- Banquet set up, and any other duties related to the Banquet Steward position
- Ability to ensure safety procedures are followed and able to notify security of any accidents or injury
- To report equipment malfunctions promptly and accurately
- Perform any other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff
- Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation
