The role of Event Planner, Mall at the University of Arizona, Tucson campus, is a full-time, exempt position with a salary ranging from $59,404 to $74,254 annually. This role is essential in managing and coordinating activities within campus outdoor areas, acting as a primary liaison for mall scheduling and event logistics. The Event Planner is responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures that govern the use of campus spaces, ensuring seamless operation of events and activities in collaboration with various campus stakeholders. The position demands a high degree of initiative, excellent organizational skills, and strong problem-solving abilities to navigate complex situations and make sound judgments. The Event Planner works closely with the Dean of Students and participates in key committees such as the Campus Use Mall Committee and the Campus Use Policy and Procedures Committee, fostering strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community.
This position requires overseeing the scheduling system for all events held on campus grounds, processing web requests for space usage, and assisting clients with all aspects of event planning including logistics and additional service arrangements. In addition, the Event Planner is tasked with training student staff on procedural requirements, directing routine paperwork processing, and compiling statistical data on the usage of outdoor areas to inform future planning and improvements. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Ability to work with various groups of people
- Demonstrated supervisory experience and skills
- Well-developed organizational skills
- Strong skills in written and oral communication
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs

Job Duties
- Explains and interprets university, administrative, and office policies and procedures to faculty, staff, students, and the public
- Develops and maintains policies and procedures for managing activities in campus areas
- Serves on Campus Use Mall Committee and Campus Use Policy and Procedures Committee
- Works directly with Dean of Students on all outdoor campus events
- Schedules and coordinates all events to maintain organization within the Campus Use scheduling system
- Reviews and processes all web requests for space received online
- Assists clients with planning, logistics, and proper procedures for special event requests
- Arranges for additional services required by customers
- Establishes strong working relationships with campus departments, faculty, students, and the community
- Implements distribution of customer evaluations, analyzes results, and takes action to improve service
- Informs and instructs student staff on procedures, approvals, and required paperwork for other departments
- Directs routine processing of paperwork, record keeping, and data tabulation
- Prepares and analyzes annual statistics on usage of outside areas
- Assists in carrying out special projects
