Job Description

Saint Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Parish is a vibrant faith community located in Oro Valley, Arizona, committed to fostering spiritual growth, community involvement, and the teachings of the Catholic Church. The parish serves as a welcoming place where individuals and families can come together to celebrate their faith, participate in various sacraments, and engage in outreach activities that reflect the mission of the Catholic Church. As part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tucson, Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish emphasizes living according to Gospel values and Catholic traditions. The parish provides numerous ministries and services designed to support parishioners of all ages and backgrounds in their faith journey. It is a place rich in spiritual heritage where laity and clergy work in unity to build a strong Church community based on love, service, and respect for Catholic teachings.

The Parish is currently seeking a part-time Wedding Coordinator to join their team in a role that is both ministry and event-focused. This position reports directly to the Pastor and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of wedding planning and coordination within the parish. The role requires someone dedicated to upholding the moral and spiritual standards of the Catholic Church both professionally and personally. The Wedding Coordinator manages interactions with various vendors, volunteers, and parish staff to ensure each wedding ceremony is executed smoothly and honors the sacredness of the sacrament of marriage. This position pays a flat fee of $165 per wedding and operates on an on-call basis, providing flexibility but requiring availability often during evenings and weekends when most weddings take place.

The ideal candidate will be a practicing Catholic committed to living and working in a manner consistent with Catholic doctrine and values, as reflected in the Apostle Paul's call in Ephesians 4:1 to "live in a manner worthy of the call you have received." Beyond planning logistics, the coordinator acts as a visible minister of the Gospel by embodying Christian virtues of compassion, patience, and reverence. Responsibilities include coordinating ceremony details, event setup and breakdown, and collaborating closely with parish staff and volunteers. Excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, leadership, and the capacity to multitask are critical to success in this highly interpersonal role. The position also demands proficiency with computer technology for scheduling and communication purposes, attention to detail, and adherence to confidentiality and parish policies. Additionally, candidates must successfully complete all required background checks to ensure compliance with the Church's safeguarding standards.

Overall, this position offers a meaningful opportunity for someone who desires to combine service to the Church with their talents in event coordination, helping to create unforgettable and faith-filled wedding celebrations for parishioners. The working environment is welcoming and faith-oriented, providing a unique balance of administrative duties and ministry engagement within a respected religious community.
