Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred
  • Knowledge of USDA food safety guidelines
  • Ability to prepare meals according to therapeutic diets
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods
  • ServSafe certification preferred
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in food preparation or dietary cooking preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to follow recipes and special diet requirements
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic math skills for measuring ingredients
  • ServSafe certification is a plus

  • Ability to maintain clean and organized work areas.

Job Duties

  • Prepare food for regular and therapeutic diets according to the planned menu
  • Follow proper food handling and food safety techniques according to established policies and regulations
  • Ensure that the proper quantity of food is prepared
  • Prepare food for special events as instructed by the supervisor
  • Keep work area clean and uncluttered during preparation and service of food
  • Use proper technique to taste prepared food to ensure quality taste and palatability prior to service
  • Maintain the proper temperature of food during preparation and service
  • Record temperatures of food according to established policy
  • Ensure that the food is served in an attractive, appetizing manner
  • Ensure that meals are sent from the kitchen or serving area according to established time schedules
  • Properly label, date and store food according to established policies
  • Ensure that refrigerator/freezer temperatures are within the appropriate range
  • Wash pots, pans, serving utensils, etc. according to established procedures for manual and/or automatic dishwashing
  • Make recommendations regarding improvements in recipes, menus, production and service of food, equipment, etc.
