This position is for a Cook reporting directly to the Restaurant General Manager within the Field Operations department. The role is vital in ensuring the preparation and cooking of food products according to Church's Operating Standards Manual (OSM), which guarantees consistency, quality, and safety across all Church's locations. The Cook is responsible for completing all assigned tasks efficiently while maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen environment.
The Cook's role encompasses both primary and secondary job functions. Primarily, the Cook sets up the batter station, prepares batter mix, ensures all smallwares are in place, and monitors the condition of kitchen equipment. They are responsible for color balancing fryers, maintaining proper shortening levels, filtering and cleaning fryers safely, and preparing the required quantity of chicken and other food products based on operational needs. Adherence to strict food specifications, procedures, quality standards, and designated holding times is expected to maintain Church's high-quality food service. Secondary functions include maintaining cleanliness through clean-as-you-go practices, stocking batter area supplies, organizing and cleaning the cooler, and performing any other tasks assigned by the Manager in Charge of the shift.
Physical demands for this position are significant, requiring medium to heavy lifting up to 75 pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently. The Cook must be able to stand and walk continuously on hard floors for extended periods, frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, squatting, reaching, handling various food items and materials, and communicating effectively with team members and customers. Safety and sanitation guidelines are paramount and must be strictly observed to ensure a safe working environment.

Job Requirements

Job Duties
- Set up batter table and prepare batter mix
- Ensure call sheets are complete, posted and used
- Check all equipment and report malfunctions to Manager in Charge
- Color balance fryers and maintain shortening levels
- Filter and clean fryers safely at designated times
- Pan sufficient chicken for operational needs
- Prepare and cook all food products as directed
- Ensure all food meets specifications, procedures, and quality standards
- Maintain a clean work area with clean-as-you-go practices
- Verify product and supplies are stocked at batter area
- Organize and clean cooler
- Perform other tasks assigned by Manager in Charge of Shift
