This opportunity at Busch Gardens is for a skilled Cook who will play an essential role in the park's food service team. Offering a competitive compensation rate of $15.50 per hour, eligible for the Tipped Pool Program, this position demands a passion for culinary arts combined with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-production kitchen environment. The Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality food items that meet the established United Parks & Resorts standards while adhering to all safety and HACCP guidelines. The role encompasses the preparation of menu items including wraps, sandwiches, salads, and fruit cups, as well as overseeing final food quality and ensuring all kitchen areas remain clean and sanitary.
The ideal candidate will utilize both advanced and traditional kitchen equipment such as open flame char grills, smokers, steam kettles, woks, and bakery machinery. The Cook must have strong knowledge of food allergens and the ability to prepare special dietary meals safely. Excellent communication skills are essential for interacting professionally with Ambassadors, vendors, and guests. The role also requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform various physical tasks including kneeling, squatting, and bending, as well as working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Job Requirements
- Ability to work with all food types, including food allergens, in any dining facility
- At least one year of cooking experience or a combination of cooking experience and culinary school
- Basic knife skills
- Ability to pass SafeStaff training and RCS Responsible Vendor Training (alcohol)
- Ability to train on and use protective gear and kitchen equipment
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-production environment
- Ability to prepare special dietary meals
- Communicate professionally and effectively with Ambassadors, vendors and guests
- Valid state driver's license preferred
- In-depth food safety and allergen knowledge a plus
- Able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs
- Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout entire work shift and climb/ascend heights if needed
- Perform physical activities including kneeling, squatting, bending floor-to waist/waist-to-overhead, reaching overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks
- Able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather, including extreme heat
- Exposure to fumes, dust, odors and temperature extremes
- Perform cleaning duties including use of cleaning chemicals
- Work a flexible schedule based on business needs including opening, mid, and closing shifts, nights, weekends and holidays
- Flexible in work locations depending on business needs and career development opportunities
Job Qualifications

Job Duties

- Utilize advanced and non-automated kitchen equipment including open flame char grill, smokers, steam kettles, woks and large bakery machinery
- Complete food prep by cutting and chopping vegetables, fruits and meats
- Assemble wraps, sandwiches, salads, fruit cups, etc.
- Keep all assigned areas clean and sanitary
- Incorporate knowledge of top eight allergens into the preparation of dietary meals
- Interact with Ambassadors and guests and deliver excellent service
- Perform other duties as assigned
