Job Description
Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, renowned for its commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences across a diverse portfolio of brands. Among these is Courtyard by Marriott, a brand specifically designed to cater to the unique needs of business travelers. Courtyard hotels focus on creating environments that blend comfort and efficiency, making every stay productive and enjoyable. Marriott International values diversity and equal opportunity, fostering an inclusive workplace where associates from various backgrounds bring their unique talents and experiences to deliver outstanding service.
At Courtyard by Marriott, we are passionate about serving the evolving needs of travelers. Our innovative approach has established us as pioneers in the hospitality sector, with a deep understanding of what business travelers require. This passion drives us to continuously improve and enhance the guest experience. Joining our team means becoming part of a dynamic and supportive environment where collaboration and personal growth are encouraged. We believe in empowering our associates to perform their best work, guided by a strong sense of purpose and belonging to a global community.
The Guest Service Expert role at Courtyard is more than a typical service position; it is integral to crafting memorable and unique guest experiences. Guest Service Experts take the initiative in delivering a wide range of services that ensure guests enjoy their meals and overall visit. This includes setting tables, communicating effectively with the kitchen staff, interacting with guests during service, managing transactions, and maintaining cleanliness in work areas. The goal is to make every interaction feel seamless and part of the overall guest experience.
This role demands a balance of physical activity and customer service skills. Guest Service Experts are expected to be on their feet for extended periods, navigate varying floor surfaces safely, and handle physical tasks such as lifting and carrying items up to 25 pounds independently, or up to 50 pounds with assistance. The job also requires attention to detail in menu management, including reading and verifying menu information.
Success in this role hinges on adherence to safety protocols, company policies, and quality standards. Maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring clear, polite communication are essential. The Courtyard team values associates who take pride in creating a safe and welcoming workplace, contributing not just to the guests’ satisfaction but also to the business's overall success.
Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, with less than one year of related work experience and no supervisory experience required. While formal certifications are not necessary, the role offers ample opportunity for learning and growth, making it ideal for individuals aiming to build a career in hospitality. Marriott International’s commitment to equal opportunity and inclusivity ensures a supportive environment where all associates can thrive regardless of background or status.
