The role of the Prepared Foods Cook at Fresco y Más is central to maintaining the quality and appeal of the delicatessen and bakery offerings. This position is responsible for preparing and cooking prepared foods according to the directions provided by the Department Manager. A Prepared Foods Cook plays a critical role in enhancing customer trust and loyalty by delivering courteous, prompt service and ensuring consistent operational conditions alongside a friendly atmosphere. By maintaining high standards in food preparation and presentation, the cook directly contributes to the overall satisfaction and repeat patronage of customers. The job entails working with various kitchen equipment such as fryers, stoves, and chicken roasters, and requires strict adherence to safety and hygiene practices including workstation and equipment sanitization. Ongoing tasks involve portioning, cooking to company specifications, managing product storage and rotation to maintain freshness, and keeping accurate records of food preparation data.
This full-time position requires physical stamina to stand, walk, lift, and carry heavy loads up to 100 pounds frequently, as well as occasional climbing and balancing activities. The work environment involves exposure to retail grocery conditions that include indoor and outdoor settings with variable temperatures, including cold, heat, and wet or humid conditions. - Sanitize workstations and equipment including fryers, ovens, stoves, and utensils
- Offer product suggestions appropriately
- Store and rotate department products to ensure freshness and date control
- Replenish and use supplies efficiently to minimize waste and control costs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Monitor food temperatures and portion control
- Record food tracking data accurately
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or irregularities to management
- Notify management of thefts, unauthorized discounts, property damage, or illegal activities
- Perform other related duties as assigned
