The role of Cashier at Bass Pro Shops is integral to maintaining the company’s high standards of customer service and efficient transaction processing. This position is responsible for checking out customers' merchandise through the Point of Sale (POS) registers accurately and efficiently. Beyond simply processing payments, cashiers are tasked with providing a welcoming and friendly environment by greeting customers promptly and ensuring their shopping experience is both pleasant and productive. They assist customers in making purchasing decisions, remain knowledgeable about products and ongoing promotions, and contribute to maintaining the store’s presentation by stocking and straightening shelves when not occupied with transactions.
A Cashier at Bass Pro Shops is expected to deliver a legendary customer experience every time by identifying and evaluating customer needs, making informed product recommendations, and promoting company programs such as CLUB Membership, Voice of the Customer (VOC), and in-store pickup services. This role requires a mix of interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and physical endurance, as the cashier frequently stands or walks during shift periods and occasionally lifts or moves merchandise. Working under general supervision, cashiers exercise independent judgment within established guidelines, problem-solving when necessary and often suggesting improvements to procedures and policies.

- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and make change to customers
- Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner to customers and other associates
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers and customers
- Ability to operate computerized Point of Sale register system

- Stocks and straightens shelves and pegs in the immediate area when not directly ringing up product

- Making product recommendations based off of this analysis
- Promoting programs including but not limited to CLUB Membership, VOC and In-Store Pick-up
- Performs all other duties as assigned
