Currently, Compass Group is hiring a full-time Bartender to join their team at TAMU Corpus Christi, located at 6300 Ocean Dr, Corpus Christi, TX 78412. This role requires someone who can efficiently prepare and serve beverages to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner while adhering strictly to all state, federal, and corporate liquor regulations. The bartender will play a critical role in ensuring that guests have a positive and enjoyable experience, while maintaining a safe environment by responsibly serving alcohol and monitoring guest intoxication.

The Bartender position is scheduled for full-time hours, with evening and weekend shifts required, providing flexibility and variety in work hours. The pay rate for this role is a fixed $17.00 per hour, reflecting competitive compensation for bartending professionals in the region. Key responsibilities include setting up the assigned bar area, including stocking all beer, wine, spirits, and necessary supplies; preparing fresh garnishes and juices to maintain beverage quality; taking and processing drink orders accurately; verifying guests’ identification; handling cash transactions efficiently; and maintaining a clean and organized work area adhering to health and safety standards. The bartender is also responsible for securing all beverage products, food items, and cash at the end of shifts to ensure compliance and security.

Job Duties

  • Adheres to state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests
  • sets up assigned bars including requisitioning and stocking all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce
  • maintains stock, prepares, cures and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables to ensure product quality
  • greets guests in a courteous, friendly manner
  • takes and/or processes orders for drinks
  • mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes
  • practices prudent portion control
  • checks guests at the bar for proper identification
  • detects and acts upon guest inebriation as trained
  • demonstrates knowledge of liquor laws
  • receives cash from guests, makes change, verifies validity of charges, records charges and ensures vouchers are properly executed
  • locks up and stores all beverage product, food, equipment items, deposits and cash drops
  • secures bank
  • performs general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards
  • keeps work area clean and organized
  • arranges bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in the bar area
  • washes and sterilizes stemware
  • performs other duties as assigned
