Senior Accountant Duties & Responsibilities

  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Produce accurate accounting reports
  • Analyze financial information to provide a comprehensive summary of the organization’s financial status
  • Identify errors and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and optimize spending
  • Offer technical support and advice related to Management Accounting functions

  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls, ensuring compliance with GAAP principles

Senior Accountant Experience & Skills

  • Extensive and proven experience in roles such as Financial Controller, Accounting Supervisor, Chief Accountant or Senior Accountant
  • In-depth knowledge of fundamental accounting procedures and practices
  • Comprehensive understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong awareness of current business trends and their implications on financial strategies
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements
  • Substantial hands-on experience in general ledger functions and proficiency in executing the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Expertise in using various accounting software packages, with proficiency in systems like FreshBooks and QuickBooks
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including Vlookups and pivot tables, to analyze and interpret financial data effectively
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail in financial record-keeping and reporting
  • Demonstrated aptitude for numbers and strong quantitative skills
  • Proven ability to provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Experience in overseeing and managing accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and experience in preparing and reviewing tax returns

Senior Accountant Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • Professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA)
