Job Description
The University of Oregon School of Law is a prestigious and dynamic institution, recognized as Oregon's only public law school and accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA). Located in Eugene, Oregon, the School of Law is committed to delivering a world-class legal education through a combination of excellent classroom teaching and comprehensive practical experience. The school offers a variety of degree programs including the Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LLM), Master of Conflict and Dispute Resolution (CRES), and an undergraduate minor in legal studies. With a mission centered on providing exceptional education, fostering scholarship, and promoting equity and justice, Oregon Law cultivates a positive and inclusive environment for its diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
The School of Law supports a culture of growth, development, and contribution by encouraging faculty and staff to engage in meaningful work aligned with its core values. It is situated on the traditional homelands of the Southern Kalapuya and prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion as foundational to its success and ranking among top law schools nationally.
The role of Signature Events Manager at Oregon Law is a key position responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of a range of high-profile and signature events. These events serve to engage a broad audience including alumni, donors, faculty, staff, volunteers, students, and community members. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Signature Events Manager will implement strategic event plans developed by program leadership, ensuring that each event aligns with the law school’s mission and outreach efforts.
Signature events managed by this role include the Oregon Supreme Court visit, Frohnmayer Award for Public Service reception, Derrick Bell lecture, Alumni Fall Celebration, Oregon Law Students Public Interest Fund (OLSPIF) dinner and auction, and Dean's Advisory Council (DAC) meetings, among others. This role demands highly organized project management skills, creativity in designing unique event themes, and strong interpersonal abilities to work effectively with diverse groups including volunteers and vendors.
An important aspect of this position is the flexibility in work hours, with expectations for availability during evenings, weekends, and possible travel. The position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to secure University of Oregon driver certification. The Signature Events Manager will also be responsible for managing event budgets, tracking expenditures, procuring goods and services, and negotiating contracts.
The compensation for this full-time, regular, and ongoing position ranges from $45,000 to $52,000 annually. The University offers a robust benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, supporting the holistic wellbeing and professional success of its employees.
This role is ideal for a professional with at least two years of event management experience, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within educational or nonprofit environments. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree, familiarity with fundraising and higher education settings, and knowledge of the University of Oregon's systems and community.
In broader terms, the Signature Events Manager is pivotal in reinforcing the University of Oregon School of Law’s identity as a top-tier institution, fostering relationships, enhancing engagement, and promoting the law school’s values through well-executed and meaningful signature events. Joining this team offers the chance to contribute to a purposeful mission while advancing one’s professional career in a vibrant academic setting.
